Due to our climate, Ireland is not an easy place to get the recommended allowance of Vitamin D. More than 90% of our Vitamin D requirement comes from the sun, meaning winter months and prolonged spells of bad weather make us vulnerable to deficiency. Another source of Vitamin D is food – but common Irish diets don’t often include many of the major sources like oily fish to make up the balance of what we need.
